In 2013, Bon Ton Stores invested in upgrading IT, continuing to update and expand its eCommerce sites, and launching a new mobile site supporting delivery of promotions and online purchasing. A central aspect of this technology upgrade involved the replacement of an x86 server environment, supporting eCommerce with ten IBM® PowerLinux™ 7R2 servers and IBM PowerVM® running IBM WebSphere® Commerce on SUSE Linux operating systems. This case study highlights of some of the key aspects of this significant migration and its results, including how Bon-Ton IT executives support the business and what they prioritize, why they decided to make this move, what performance and capability resulted, and how it affected full data center costs and business resilience.
Do you know your mobile customers - really? Without genuine insight, you might be tempted, for example, to offer mobile users the regular website that works well with your Internet customers. But most smart and feature phones cannot support the complex, high-bandwidth Flash and Ajax applications at the heart of your site. Further, your feature and content rich website can pose numerous usability, navigation, or even screen real estate issues on hand-held devices.
Enterprise network architectures are evolving as a result of the growth of public cloud, proliferation of mobile devices, and organizational requirement to collaborate with global users. In this on-demand webinar, Gartner Research VP and Distinguished Analyst Mark Fabbi and Akamai Technologies' Enterprise Web Experience Product Manager, Greg Lord, will provide insight into
this new trend.
You can have all the latest features of iOS 8 on your iPhone, but if you’re still using an iPhone 4s, you won’t be able to take advantage of most of them.
This should serve as an appropriate metaphor for this audience because when it comes to data storage, many of today’s storage solutions have been around since the 1970s…as in the the world of mobile, today’s data storage needs are revealing just how limited those older solutions are. Even if a company has updated almost everything in its IT ecosystem, it takes only one unchanged layer to prevent them from realizing the benefits of the latest technology.
With petabyte scale, reliability, performance, and efficiency the order of the day we are fast approaching that point with storage. There is without question a need to change in the current storage paradigm.
In this webinar you will learn about current IT storage challenges and useful insights about next-generation storage solutions.

This paper chronicles the adventures and misadventures of the enterprise mobile app journey based on our observations working with industry leaders who have weathered three years of pain to arrive at the same conclusions.
Technology advances are changing the way employees work, consumers buy, and enterprises conduct business. Old methods for marketing products are taking a back seat to online distribution, and mobile devices are ubiquitous access points to the Internet. The resulting environment is ripe for the creation and distribution of new software for handling a constantly expanding array of functions. When there is an app for everything, organizations have no choice but to adapt or risk getting left behind as markets enter the era of the Web application programming interface (API).
Mobile technologies are having a dramatic effect on the way we live, work, learn, and play. While organizations recognize that the impact of mobility could be as great as that of the web, many are struggling with what exactly to do about it. IT leaders have the opportunity to direct this transformation. Read more to learn how.
Employees are mobile because we support everyone with technology and policies that allow them to work flexibly in terms of time, place, and device. We deliver this capability through Cisco products for secure wireless LAN (WLAN) and home and remote access (Cisco Virtual Office and VPN), as well as softphones, Cisco® WebEx®, Cisco Spark™, and extension mobility features. Our bring your own device (BYOD) policies and program allow employees to use their personal mobile devices to access the Cisco network, after the device is registered and confirmed as compliant with our security requirements for making it a secure or trusted device.

To build a great mobile app, you need the right skills, tools, and support. That’s why many companies are turning to integrated and collaborative mobile application development environments that let them meet business needs and exceed customer expectations.
How effective is your mobile app development process when it comes to meeting customer needs and business objectives? IBM commissioned Forrester to identify the key drivers of successful mobile apps and the costs of failure -- for both customer-facing and enterprise applications.
Watch the webcast to understand the key cost drivers and why it’s more important than ever to get this right due to what Forrester calls the “mobile mind shift.” IBM customer, Bank of Montreal, also shares their mobile app dev story. A good app can increase traffic, sales, productivity and brand satisfaction. And a bad app will do the opposite (you could risk doubling your costs if you’re not mindful of the key cost drivers).
This white paper digs deep into the reasons testing mobile apps is fundamentally harder than traditional web or desktop applications. A collaboration by Tina Zhuo and Dennis Schultz from IBM along with Yoram Mizrachi from Perfecto Mobile and John Montgomery from uTest, these experts explore the complexities of mobile test environments, the value of the mobile device cloud, the unique role crowd sourcing can play, and how teams can leverage automation to help deliver quality apps.

The mobile web doesn’t just exist in your smartphone or tablet’s browser—there’s also an invisible but critical layer at the back end that powers mobile app services from content delivery to networking and collaboration.
Modern mobile applications connect systems-of-engagement (mobile apps) with systems-of-record (traditional IT) to deliver new and innovative business value. But the lifecycle for development of mobile apps is also new and different. Emerging trends in mobile development call for faster delivery of incremental features, coupled with feedback from the users of the app "in the wild". This loop of continuous delivery and continuous feedback is how the best mobile apps keep their users engaged and also produce the most compelling apps in the market.
Join us for this webcast to learn about how IBM offers a solution that enables our clients to use continuous quality as an effective means of mobile application development.
